St. Patrick's Day Editable Sight Words, CVC Word & Phonics Assessment Project
With our science of reading-aligned St. Patrick’s Day resource, practicing and assessing sight words and high-frequency words is easy and engaging. You can also assess letters/sounds and CVC words. This phonics and phonemics awareness project is designed for a fun and creative assessment or St. Patrick’s Day bulletin board!
To use, simply print the coins for the skill you want students to practice. This resource includes sight words, decodable CVC words and letters/sounds. Also included are editable slides so you can add any skill. Assess students one-on-one and place a mark on the coins that they get right. The students will then color and cut out the words they read (color the gold coins yellow or gold). They also color and cut out the pot. (To save time you can print the coins on yellow paper so they don’t need to color.)
Here's what you'll get:
- 200 words from the Dolch And Fry list
- All 26 letters
- Over 90 CVC Words
- Directions for Activity
- Editable slides
The science of reading does NOT tell us we cannot teach sight words. SOR tells us we can modify how we teach sight words, including blending, segmenting, and spelling the words to make instruction and practice more effective.
