Why use a mnemonic alphabet? Embedded mnemonics pair each letter with a meaningful picture and keyword that highlights its sound, and that's easy for kids to remember! For example, b – butterfly. This visual and auditory connection helps children create memory pegs in their brains to improve letter-sound knowledge, making recall easier. The mnemonic alphabet emphasizes letter sounds first, which is essential for decoding.
