Cooking in the classroom provides hands-on practice and real-life experiences that engage our students in higher-order thinking skills. Recipes incorporate speaking and listening, sequencing, following directions, math and science skills, and standards.

Each of these 34 snack ideas and recipes can be made in any classroom.  Most require a few ingredients and can be done in a short time period.

Each recipe is designed to be completed by students and has a suggested book to read with the snack.  As you make the snack and eat the snack, allow conservations to happen so students are building vocabulary and language capacity.

Each snack comes with a writing page so students can write and draw about their snack.

Note:  To add additional writing, you can write out the recipe on chart paper.

ALLERGIES:  Be aware of student allergies and modify and adjust as needed.
