Fix It Up! Snowman Sentence Fragments Verses Complete Sentences and Components
Perfect for pre-readers and early readers, this interactive and engaging winter-themed game requires students to work together (or independently) to rebuild Frosty the Snowman by identifying whether snowflake cards contain complete sentences or fragments. Using their knowledge of sentence structure, students sort each card, add missing parts to fragments, and earn snowman pieces to assemble Frosty. This activity can be done with or without teacher support.
Skills Addressed:
- Identifying complete sentences versus fragments
- Recognizing sentence components: WHO (subject) and DO (predicate)
- Oral language development by adding missing parts to fragments orally
- Collaboration and problem-solving
The objective of this activity is to help Frosty come back to life by rebuilding him piece by piece! To earn a Frosty part, you must identify a snowflake card as a complete sentence (or identify a fragment and add the needed information to make it a complete sentence). Students will need to identify and/or create enough complete sentences to re-build Frosty!
