Alphabet Posters with Embedded Mnemonics
These alphabet posters use embedded mnemonics to help students learn sounds and letters faster and more easily by creating a visual and/or auditory connection between the letter and a familiar image or sound. Kids remember things better and more easily map things into memory when they are connected to other things that they know and that are meaningful to them This essentially helps anchor the letter/sound to a mental picture that the students can easily recall. Each word was intentionally chosen to align with the science of reading research.
Two versions of the alphabet posters are included:
Version 1: uppercase & lowercase letters with the mnemonic
Version 2: uppercase and lowercase letters, the embedded mnemonic PLUS a real photograph of the item
Our students learn best through visuals. Using letters as a relatable picture or object provides a concrete image that directly relates to the letter shape, aiding memory recall. We do NOT want kids to store word-related knowledge in visual memory. that’s his letter confusions occur. We want them to store them in phonological memory, BUT using mnemonics helps fuse the sound and letterform shapes with MEANING.
